Maqs Bistro has a wonderful atmosphere, ideal for enjoying a relaxing evening. I appreciated the spacious, clean room that had a microwave and tea/coffee facilities. It felt perfect for reaching Scafell Pike. even though the weather was not great, the location was convenient. The staff were welcoming, especially Matt, who made an effort to ensure I had what I needed. parking posed a challenge during my stay, which could be tricky given the busy season. The bistro menu looked tasty, and the 15% discount for residents was a nice touch, though I didn’t get to try it this time around. I did notice some minor issues in my room like a small shower cubicle, but overall, I think the experience was good for the price.

The room had a microwave and coffee facilities, which were handy for quick snacks. Some guests appreciated the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms while taking part in local events, underscoring that this spot can be a good base for nearby activities.
I ran into several issues during my stay. The shower cubicle left a lot to be desired, with poor condition and tiny space. the TV had very limited channels, and I couldn’t get anything aside from a few BBC ones. I found some faint signs of wear, like a cracked cup and a radiator that was replaced but left the wall untouched. On top of that, the parking situation was tricky during peak times, and I had some trouble accessing my room due to missing key details beforehand.

A delightful stay with friendly smiles
The welcoming atmosphere at Maqs Bistro was lovely. Matt, the manager, ensured I felt at home, and breakfast was conveniently nearby in a charming café.
Accessing the room posed a challenge as I didn’t receive key details beforehand, which led to a slight delay upon arrival. Improvements here would be helpful.

Had an awesome time with friends! We visited a local café for breakfast, and the bistro downstairs served amazing food. The rooms were spacious, and the service was great. Loved that it had private parking, even if it was a bit tricky during the busy crab festival.

great for walking lovers
Perfect spot for Scafell Pike hikes! We enjoyed our stay even tho the weather was kinda iffy. Rooms were big, spotless, and comfy. Just a microwave and coffee in the room, but we took our meals, so all good! Only tricky part was parking since it was a busy time. The bistro menu looked yum tho!

The overpowering damp smell in the room was alarming, leading to immediate discomfort. The bathroom was poorly equipped, and the TV reception was lacking, with only a few channels available. the smoked guinea fowl from the bistro was excellent and the sheets were nice, adding a small touch of comfort in an otherwise unfortunate stay.
